My name is Alan Cruz. I am a graduate student at the University of Illinois at Chicago. I am currently working on my thesis with my talented partner, Hisham Bizri. I received my Bachelors of Fine Arts in Film, Video, and Electronic Visualization. After finishing my bachelors I worked freelance for one year and then worked full time as a computer animator and software developer. After my two years in the working world, I decided to get my Masters of Fine Arts and enrolled at the Electronic Visualization Laboratory. I enrolled at EVL for several reasons. The lab provided a state of the art facility, extensive research and development of Virtual Reality and VR products, and Softimage. Access to high end machines is important in creating computer animation. When using these high end machines, there are no limitations to what your creativity can do. I was also interested in the creation of VR art and its importance to the art community. Last, but not least, the understanding of Softimage. Learning and becoming a Softimage expert would increase my options to work in the either the movie/commercial industry or the post production and video game market. My current work is in creating virtual environments, digital film, and computer animation. |
