Violent Seed was a game for the Sony Playstation
(PSX). it was a top down shooter utilizing the 3D capabilities of the
PSX. it was developed by Rabid Entertainment (formerly Viacom
New Media). i was employed as an artist by Rabid from june of
96 until august of 97 when Rabid Entertainment was shut down as
a result of Viacom deciding it wanted out of the game industry.
this page contains information about my involvment on this project.
my main contribution to the game was as a level builder.
level artwork in violentSeed consisted of ground terrain and world
objects such as buildings, and other non-enemy objects. the designer would
give me a rough layout of the general shape and length of the level, as
well as info about any specific things he wanted like landmarks and stuff.
from there, i would design the rest of the level, including the overall
look and specific layouts for the ground and buildings. after finalizing
the design, i would then begin building the ground and world geometry in
Softimage and creating texture maps for them in Photoshop using
combinations of scanned sources and hand painted images.
i built the ground geometry and world objects for a little over 3 levels.
the levels i built included:
