Gosia Malgorzata Koscielak Ph.D. was born in Wroclaw (Poland)
1962, graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Wroclaw, Poland
(MFA'86, MFA'87, PhD92) and from the School of the Art Institute
of Chicago (MFA'94) as a Fulbright Scholar, student and later assistant
of Prof. Wanda Golkowska. She has been Artistic Director of a Rekwizytornia
Gallery at the Contemporary Theatre in Wroclaw (1987-89). Curated
numerous international exhibitions, such as Homage a Henryk Stazewski
in 1989, Transcultural Visions: Polish - American Contemporary Art
at the Hyde Park Art Center in Chicago (2001), the National Museum
in Szczecin (2202) and many others. Koscielak has lectured at the
Art Institute of Chicago, St. John Fisher College in Rochester,
NY. She has been visiting lecturer at the Northwestern University,
Evanston, and University of Illinois at Chicago. Koscielak has had
numerous solo exhibitions at the galleries and museums in Poland,
Italy, Germany, and the US. She has had group exhibitions in Greece,
Holland, Germany, Poland and the US. Her works are in private and
museum collections worldwide, including Calgary University, Chelm
Museum, and Center for Polish Sculpture in Oronsko. She is an artist,
curator and lecturer. Koscielak art is strongly connected with traditions
of Polish and International Constructivism and Conceptualism. During
last decade her art evolved in the direction of the post-conceptual
reflection on human nature and its historically, biologically, culturally
and technologically complex relationships. Since the beginning of
her artistic career she has been fascinated with phenomena of light.
She creates multimedia installations, paintings and digital graphics.
